Code of Ethics & Membership By-Laws (Last revised on February 16, 2008)

Policy Statement  |  Code of Ethics  |  By-Laws |  Types of Membership

Let's Network is a group whose sole purpose is to promote the business of its members. While the group is comprised mostly of local businesses, national companies are welcome. Members are expected to help promote each others business by creating leads, referrals, and contacts.

Let's Network accepts only one representative from each occupation or profession to avoid duplication of services among members.

Let's Network is made successful by the input of all its members. Therefore each member is expected to attend regularly, or to send a representative in their place if they cannot attend a meeting. New prospects are welcome to visit but are asked to join after their second meeting.

Let's Network is a local independent group. All application fees and dues stay within our local group for the support and promotion of the group, its members, and community projects.

The Members of Let's Network join together to honor the following:

A. To increase our business and to help promote our services and products.

B. All members will participate on an equal basis. There will be no directors.

C. One member of the group will act as the facilitator. The length of term will be three months.

The duties of facilitator will be as follows:

  • Start and stop the meetings on time.

  • Ensure that the meetings stay on schedule and address the current issues being discussed by the group.

  • To aid the group in sustaining our commitment to the promotion and support of each others business.

  • To be considered to become facilitator, a member must be committed to the above “duties of facilitator”, have paid their Non-refundable Joining Fee and are in good standing with their Non-refundable Membership Dues . The acting facilitator will ask for any members who wish to become facilitator as their term comes to an end. If there are no volunteers it will be the task of the present facilitator as well as past facilitators to seek out a member who may wish to facilitate. The facilitator benefits by having their monthly dues waived for their term, and the opportunity to offer new ideas for marketing and promotion for our club .

  D. Webmaster - Responsibilities: Webmasters membership dues are waived. Creates and Keeps our website up to date. Trains a committed member on how to update of the site. Keep er of records and notes pertinent to the website including Web Hosting & Domain Name Account Information. Provides the Executive Board with a copy(s) of the latter and anything that Let's Network would have ownership to.

E. A Non-Refundable Joining Fee of thirty dollars, $30.00, will be charged to all new members of the group plus Non-Refundable Membership Dues as follows:

  • Dues are based on a fiscal year starting from January 1st through to December 31st. Non-Refundable membership dues of sixty dollars, $60.00 a year, are paid once a year and are due no later then the third week of each December for the following new fiscal year. As we do not meet the last week of December, a $10 additional late fee will be charged to members renewing in January of the new fiscal year.
  • New members joining after January will pay their membership dues prorated at five dollars, $5.00 a month starting the month of joining the club.

F. The meetings start promptly at 7:40 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 8:50 a.m.

G. Members are encouraged to arrive as early as 7:15am , share business articles from their trade magazines, newsletters, motivational tapes and to help all our members to be aware of current market trends.

H. All members need to recognize the importance of their business in relation to all other members of the group. As We Support Others, We Support Ourselves.

I. As members of the Let's Network group we all need to share; Pride in our Businesses, Service to Our Customers, The Highest of Ethics, Confidence in our Products, and Consideration for each other. We recognize that these are all elements we need as a group to succeed.

J. In order to avoid conflict of Interest with current members, first time visitors must speak to a Membership Leader and must get approval of what can be said or can be distributed as hand-outs during their visit. Visitors can contact a Membership Leader before their first to verify information. When two or more businesses find they have overlapping products or services; it is the responsibility of those parties involved to find a resolution to the conflict. The first business that joins the Network will have primary consideration regarding their product or services. If a resolution cannot be reached, the problem may go before an arbitration board. (This board will be made up of volunteer members with no involvement regarding the conflict in question).

K. Your presence and input makes all the difference in having successful meetings and a successful Network. Regular attendance is required.

Please help our group run smoothly by following these rules and regulations

MEETINGS START AT 7:40 AM -PLEASE BE PROMPT. Members arriving after 7:50 will be counted as absent.

Introductions are conducted from a random starting point and continued sequentially around the group, one time only. Should you arrive after introductions have already begun, please quietly find a seat and voluntarily abstain from introducing yourself.

Our introductions are limited to 30 seconds for members and 60 seconds for visitors (if time allows). Chair formations are for the use of members and adult guests. If you must bring a child to the meeting in an emergency, the child must be old enough to quietly sit at a table behind the member 's set-up.

All members will have an opportunity to be a speaker on a rotational basis. This is a privilege; if you cannot speak the day you are scheduled, you must make arrangements for a substitute. If you don't, you will miss your chance to speak to the group, not to mention disrupting the meeting schedule for that day.

Members missing any twelve (12) meetings in a calendar year, (besides approved holidays), or missing five (5) scheduled consecutive meetings will automatically lose their membership status and membership dues. Members can avoid receiving up to six absences by sending someone to represent them. (see page 3 regarding representatives) It is crucial that they understand their role as a representative . This generous absence policy should allow for most normal or emergency situations that may arise in the course of a year. After 60 days, a dropped member may re-apply if their category is still available.

(Members) should contact the facilitator or the person keeping the attendance to discuss whether their particular set of circumstances warrants a temporary leave of absence. The final decision will be made by two or more members and, if necessary, will be brought before the group for a vote. The decision to grant such a leave will be based on the member's previous attendance record, seriousness of the circumstances, unavailability of a representative, length of leave, and the general effect on the continuity of the group.

When a member quits or loses their membership status, their position becomes immediately available to a qualified applicant on a first-come basis. In the case of overlapping categories, current members have priority. Some positions have an active waiting list and we try to notify those people of any openings.

It is the members' responsibility to notify us whenever there is a change in address, phone, or status.

In extreme cases, a member can be asked to leave the group by majority vote on a petition for the following reasons: Documented unethical business practices; Disruptive or problem behavior; or chronic complaints from referrals or members.

The restaurant or meeting place (Denny's Restaurant) does not charge us for the use of the room and our server must set-up and break-down the table and chair arrangements for our meetings. For this reason, each person attending the meeting, regardless of whether they ate or drank anything, is expected to give (2) two dollars tip/donation to the person collecting for the server. Exact change would be appreciated.

If you have any concerns regarding the group or the rules, we ask that you approach the appropriate member to resolve the problem. Do not use the meeting to bring up matters that can be handled better on a more personal level. Please use your best judgment.

Clarification of Representatives and Types of Membership

Individual Membership:
If a Member joins as an individual they are expected to attend and participate fully in the group. Because each member is accepted with their understanding that regular attendance is of up-most importance, it has been decided that:

A representative may attend on the individual member's behalf. (See rules regarding representatives for Individual Membership), but for no more than 6 meetings in a calendar year. The individual Member will be required to either attend the balance of the meetings in person, or they may choose to utilize their absences by not being in attendance.

This, in effect, means the member will not terminate their own membership until they have reached a total of twelve (12) total absences in a calendar year, or five (5) consecutive absences in a row. The six meetings attended by a representative will not count against their absences. These generous allowances are designed to be used for unforeseen or emergency situations, as utilizing all these options would not be in your or the group's best interest.

Business Membership:
If the member joins as a business, they shall have the right, as an employer, to send any employee to represent that business. A person is deemed to be an actual employee if they work directly for and are paid by the Business Member according to State and Federal Statutes. An assigned employee shall be afforded the same rights as the business member.

Rules Regarding Representatives for Individual Membership:
Representatives must agree to only represent the member. They have no right to participate in any group decisions, volunteer for any duties, or hold any office. Any concerns regarding the group must be presented by the actual Member. The representatives are not allowed to promote themselves or another business in any manner; through word of mouth or literature. If they do so, the Member will be notified and that particular representative may no longer be allowed to attend. No individual member can have a representative for more than six meetings per calendar year.

Multi-Level Status:
In the case of multi-level organizations, where there are independent consultants and/or "down-lines", each person is considered a singular unit and shall not be construed as interchangeable.

"Gifting" the Membership:
Membership cannot be "gifted" to someone else, as this would undermine the whole concept of the waiting list for open categories. The interested party must submit the appropriate paperwork for consideration and may be allowed to join or may be put on a waiting list for that position. Current members have priority if the newly opened category can be utilized within their membership description. (Ex: In the case of overlapping categories).

By submission of your membership application or signing of any addendum, you agree to abide by these By-laws.
